This was our first time to Nevis. We have been to many different islands ranging from St. Marten to Bequia. Nevis is a great combination of still being unspoiled yet having great places to dine. It is a balance that is hard to find. Hurricane Cove simply adds to that wonderful balance. It is natural, laid back yet eloquent in the way it takes the beauty of the location and adds to it. We arrived in the night. When we went to bed I told Pat, "We're going to have an amazing view from here when we wake up." Amazing doesn't describe it. Our views were spectacular no matter which deck you were on. The vast expanses of Caribbean blue as we looked across to St. Kitts never grew old. Our view of boats bobbing in the harbour though not as breathtaking was wonderful in its own way. Sitting on the deck drinking our morning coffee was simply paradise. Sitting by the private pool in the late afternoon drinking rum punches and eating brie with french bread was almost sinful.
During our stay we were visited frequently by monkeys who would join us at pool side. We almost ran into three wild donkeys on the beach our first night. And the birds on our deck made it clear that they had high expectations of us and that we were to share whatever we were eating with them. I trust they were not disappointed.
Our villa had all the creature comforts that Pat and I have come to expect. No, it is not the Four Seasons, but that isn't our style when we come to the Caribbean. Our bed was fantastic as were the pillows.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Kathryn was just great in making us feel at home and giving good advice about Nevis based on years of experience. I don't know what I would do to make Hurricane Cove better. For us, it was everything we want on an island that is just about perfect.
